What do lawyers think about Armstrong’s ban?

A very interesting paper published on cycling central website, cites famous sport lawyers on the subject matter of Lance Armstrong’s ban.

Strong statements are made by expert sport lawyers or jurists, such as:

What worries lawyers is to witness anti-doping agencies who don’t seem  to be ready to go to court when a rule has been broken and it favours  the athlete”, professor Antonio Rigozzi of University of Neuchatel is quoted to have said.


No one dares criticise the USADA for fear of appearing to defend Armstrong. But we need to have dispassionate judges who apply the law as it stands,” French lawyer and former Court of Arbitration for Sport judge, Jean-Jacques Bertrand   is reported to have said.

The legal question at the heart of discussion being UCI ignoring the statute of limitations that ordinarily applies in such doping cases.
